What is Scar & Stretchmark Camouflage (Paramedical Micropigmentation & MCA Needling aka Inkless Camouflage)?
Scar camouflage, also known as paramedical micropigmentation / paramedical tattooing / medical needling, is a specialised treatment that helps reduce the visible appearance of scars, stretch marks and areas of skin discolouration.
Using advanced micropigmentation techniques, Kandor Approved Practitioners carefully implant skin matched pigments or quad peptide matrix serums into the upper layers of the skin to blend the treated area with the surrounding natural skin tone.
This does not remove the scar, but significantly reduces its visibility by creating a more even and natural appearance.
In many cases, visible improvement can be achieved within 1–2 sessions depending on skin type, scar age and texture.
Who is Suitable for Scar Camouflage?
Most healthy adults aged 18+ may be suitable for treatment.
Best results are typically seen when:
Scars are at least 6–12 months old
Stretchmarks on case by case basis, as early as 3 months old
Vitiligo on a case by case basis, often as early as 3/6 months old
The area is no longer red, pink or actively changing
The skin has fully healed and stabilised
This treatment is commonly used for:
Surgical scars
Injury scars
Vitiligo
Stretch marks
Cosmetic surgery scars
Skin discolouration
Certain congenital skin irregularities
Tanning, Sun Exposure & Skin Tone Matching
Scar camouflage is designed to match your natural or stable skin tone at the time of treatment.
Important considerations:
Tanned skin will affect pigment matching accuracy
If you regularly use fake tan, this must be disclosed during consultation
Sun exposure after treatment can create contrast if surrounding skin changes colour
Treated areas will not tan in the same way as untreated skin however will still blend and look better than if they were left untreated. Scars and stretchmarks do not tan. For best long term results, stable skin tone is recommended before treatment begins.
Does Scar Camouflage Hurt?
Most clients report minimal discomfort.
Many describe it as mild scratching or light pressure
Numbing options may be used if required but rarely ever needed at all
Sensitivity varies depending on scar type and location
Pain levels are generally very low compared to traditional tattooing.
How Long Does It Last?
MCA needling is generally permanent unless there is rapid weight loss or gain after treatment.
Scar camouflage is considered long-lasting, but not permanent.
Typical longevity:
Around 2–5 years depending on skin type, lifestyle and area treated if using ink
Maintenance sessions may be required to refresh results over time
Aftercare & Healing
Immediately after treatment, the area may appear:
Slightly darker or more defined
Red or raised for a short period
This is a normal part of the healing process.
Healing timeline:
First few days: redness and sensitivity
1–3 weeks: pigment settling and natural blending begins
3–4 weeks: final appearance visible
Aftercare includes:
Keeping the area clean and dry
Avoiding picking, rubbing or scratching
Using only approved healing ointments
Avoiding swimming, saunas, sun beds, laser, steam rooms and heavy sweating during early healing
Full aftercare instructions are provided after treatment.
What to Avoid After Treatment
To protect results during healing, avoid:
Sunbeds and direct sun exposure (minimum 4 weeks)
Swimming pools, saunas and steam rooms
Heavy exercise in early healing stage
Makeup on treated area until fully healed
Harsh skincare products (retinols, acids, exfoliants)
Downtime
Most clients return to normal daily activities immediately.
However, it is recommended to avoid:
Intense exercise for a few days
Any friction or trauma to the treated area during healing
Treatment Pricing
Pricing depends on:
Size of the area
Complexity of the skin condition
Number of sessions required
Typical guide:
Small scar areas: from £100
Medium areas: from £250–£400 per session
Larger stretch mark areas: from £375+ per session
Exact pricing is confirmed after assessment.

Pregnant or breastfeeding clients
Uncontrolled medical conditions (e.g. blood pressure, diabetes)
Active skin infections or inflammation
Certain vascular or raised skin conditions
Areas that are still healing or unstable
A consultation is required before treatment is confirmed.
Patch Testing & Safety
A patch test is recommended at least 24–48 hours before treatment to ensure compatibility with pigments and products used. All treatments are carried out under strict hygiene and sterilisation standards.
Risks
As with all micropigmentation procedures, potential risks include:
Mild irritation or swelling
Uneven pigment retention
Infection if aftercare is not followed
Variability in final colour match depending on skin response
All risks are discussed before treatment.
